Teacher Comments

This workhsop was enlightening. Agriculture is not a common subject in the classroom due to the modern day dependence on technology; however, I truly enjoyed learning and creating hands-on activities concerning agriculture.”
~Christopher Newport University, 2010

“I learned so many fun and interesting ways to use agriculture in the classroom. They will be easy to use because all of the lessons apply to Virginia’s Standards of Learning.”
~Patrick County, 2011

Making an Impact Everyday

Educating children on the natural world and the importance of agriculture in Virginia are the top priorities of Agriculture in the Classroom. AITC is unique because it is the only organization in Virginia that supplies educators with training and resources that allow agriculture to be brought directly into the classroom. The program is growing and a tremendous amount of momentum is building. In order for this growth to continue, we need your support to continue to make a difference in our schools!

Will you join our growing family of dedicated donors and become an investor in the future of agriculture and education in Virginia?

With your support, in the 2012-2013 school year AITC can:

  • Reach at least 2,000 Virginia educators with SOL-aligned, agriculturally-themed resources and lessons that can be easily integrated into existing curriculum.
  • Impact more than 60,000 Virginia students who will be given the gift of knowledge and hear the story of agriculture in Virginia.
  • Develop new curriculum and classroom resources including new lesson plans for pre-school and elementary programs which will be shared in regional workshops and made available to teachers across the state through this website.
  • Deliver a semi-annual newsletter filled with valuable, agriculturally-themed content to more than 15,000 educators in Virginia.
